MKC 2008 KART2KART Banquet Race Results

The Race

            Now, on for a recap of what the dyed in the wool, dedicated racers came to the banquet for.  The races.  K2K has a 20 kart fleet of Honda Powered 4 cycles with Catalytic converters that they run indoors year round.  Supposed to be identical.  Well, we all know what that means.  The format was two groups of 10.  One practice run, one qualifying run, One feature race run.  All runs were 12 or 13 laps.  The qualifying session provided a means for dividing the groups into an “A” Main feature race and a “B” Main feature.

            C’mon, C’mon, you say.  Enough gab.  “What were the results?”

The best lap time was recorded by Mike Purcell.  A 28.60 sec lap in the “A” Main feature.  Mike didn’t win, however.  The lap time chart indicates that someone biffed him to the tune of a 5 second loss on lap 3.  He recovered for a second place finish behind Ted Steffke.  The “B” Main was won by Brian “C” ?  You know, what’s his name.  Yeah, Brian “C”.  Who’d he come with?  Well, anyway he started on the pole and finished on the pole for the “B” main.  Didn’t really matter who won these heats, the real action was “back in the pack”.  The mix of driving talent coupled with the mix of fast and slow “rides” made for some exciting rubbing of bumpers.  I think ON-Star called me at least 6 or 7 times to check on air bag deployment.  The whole event was a real blast.
